Christine killed me- 17:26 with 115# deadlifts, I can only improve on that. I also would like to apologize to anyone I may have yelled at, snapped at and/or snarled at this morning – I blame carb withdrawal.

Not coming in today, but did christine a couple weeks ago at 205# in 11:37. I’ll use that for my benchmark.

Christine- 10:03 with 160lb. Missed my PR by about 30 seconds but I was standing up on the top of my box jumps so that might have slowed me down.

      Hey Nick,

don’t forget that the bj are higher by 4 inches. The last time you did it it was 20″. I missed my PR by 30 sec. too and I did my bj much faster! Then gil reminded me that we did games standards! :) yay!

    12:24 rx + 2 inches! :)

I did all BJ touch and go at the bottom and full stand at the top. Not to mention that I did 150 air squats and 30 hang power cleans yesterday during “nasty girls”. I don’t think I can complain about this one….sounds like a pr to me! :)

and I got an extra wod in chasing Preston around the gym for an hour while his parents did the wod at 5:00….I forgot how tiring a 1 year old can be. :-) Staci was winded just watching me!!!!!

      200 for 3
225 for 10….pretty stoked about that! Especially since Gil said I should go for 8 :)

The team WOD was definitely sick!!! Even though I was moving SLOWLY and felt horrible during the WOD, Matt told me that I FINISHED 75 heavy KB swings…something I have never done before….so I guess that’s a good accomplishment! Just need to pace better next time!

Seriously, girl, you kicked ass today. Heavy KB swings, even just a few, are no joke!!

      • Jodie Cohen Says:

        nice going shu!!!

      • ryan Says:

Seriously that thing is like half your bodyweight. I have a harad time messing around with the 53lb kettlebell big goat of mine. Great Job!! And heather good job too were going to have to have 911 on call because all the other competitors are going to be choking in our dust!! =] Blue Barracudas!!

  8. Heather Donnelly Says:

    Deadlifts – 5@185, 3@205, 6@225.
Wod: Team awesomeness. I felt pretty miserable the last round, and my rope broke during double unders, but overall that was a good time.

Did paleo benchmark: pullups, 15 – not a good day for pullups, I think I had more in me. I wimped out when my hands started to hurt…

Wendler DL: 265×5, 300×3, 335×5. Christine: 11:07. PR since I’ve never done it before!

Haha. She did slow me down, but it’s okay. Definitely, getting close. About 2 more weeks of these drills and I’ll be there. Most likely.

Today (Sunday) was a fine example of why CFN epitomizes the community aspect of crossfit. As many of you know I was really not feelin it yesterday or today, but plan to be back on track/healthy and rested for tomorrow. Following squat cleans today, if I were on my own I would have likely beaten myself up and crapped out on the WOD, yet with Gil’s support I was able to feel better following the strength and get a little pick me up. Later, when all had left, aside from me, staci, heather, jay and ryan, we had an all encompassing skill session . . . if that’s what you could call it. Really though, that brought me back to my old self and made me realize that Crossfit Newton is way more than a gym to me, and the community aspect improves my personal self just as much as the fitness aspect improves my physical self. Thanks guys.

Ya know what I LOVE about this post….I love that Jack Hile is just about one of the finest athletes around. He’s quick, he’s agile, he’s strong, he’s flexible, he’s pretty much the epitome of what most of us at CrossFit Newton (or any crossfit, for that matter) aspire to be, yet he humbly reminds all of us that it doesn’t matter how good you are….we likely couldn’t be that person without the community! We ALL challenge, depend, and push each other beyond the place that we would on our own. That’s what CrossFit is all about! It’s not about your Fran time or your MU or your DL max. It’s easy to make it about those things, but it really isn’t about that. At OUR gym, it’s about supporting the HELL out of each other to be the BEST we can be!!!!

Thanks Jack for reminding us of that. Especially as we fight as a box to get to regionals!!!!!! WE WILL GET THERE!!!!!
